The french coffee press pot is a sought item of people who enjoy a delicious cup of coffee that a drip based coffee machine simply cannot achieve.
A grinder is a good accessory for your french coffee press pot. We would suggest a burr grinder as the grounds will fall to the bottom after being ground appropriately. But if you plan on using standard coffee grounds from the local grocery store shelf you can use that as well.
Some people like the ritualistic nature of preparing coffee with a french coffee press pot. It can become second nature to get the water boiling, preparing the coffee grounds, pouring in the coffee grounds and then pouring the water in after them.
Then you can swish the grounds around in the water by holding the french coffee press pot by its handle or using a chop stick or something of that variety to stir the grounds in the coffee.

There is some speculation and reports that drinking coffee from a french coffee press pot is bad for your health but if you drink just about anything in moderation some things are actually good for your health.
Using a french coffee press pot for quick fix coffee purposes is actually possible as well if you use an electric kettle. The process can actually be even faster than using a drip based coffee machine with its filter.
Coffee prepared with a press pot has the suspended particles otherwise trapped by a paper filter. There are a lot of people once exposed to a press pot greatly prefer the taste and texture of the suspended particles. Afterwards any other type of coffee just does not have that same authentic coffee experience.
We would suggest a coarse grind if you do not like a lot of sediment at the bottom of the press pot. But some do prefer the extra taste and flavor.
